Alan Henning, CFA, Part of Effort to CROWN the QUEEN (City)
For anyone walking or biking on Cincinnati’s various multi-use trails in the region, you may have seen the “CROWN THE QUEEN” signs along the way. The CROWN is a vision for Cincinnati’s first-ever urban trail loop – a complete 34-mile, multi-use paved trail that connects the Queen City’s iconic landmarks and neighborhoods. An overview and map of the plan is here.
The CROWN will form a complete network of existing trails and those in current development: Wasson Way, Ohio River Trail East, Little Miami Scenic Trail, Ohio River Trail West, Mill Creek Greenway Trail, Canal Bikeway, and the Murray Path Trail. Once complete, The CROWN will connect over 350,000 people in 54 communities to major destinations like parks, schools, and centers for employment, retail, recreation, and entertainment.
As part of the effort at expanding and connecting the trail on the east side of Cincinnati, Alan Henning, CFA and Senior Wealth Advisor helped raise funds for the cost of connecting a portion of the trail thru the Village of Mariemont. The $420K project was raised through various grants and private donations and will connect from Settle Road to Plainville Road along a former trolley line that ended in 1942.
Alan, an avid hiker and cyclist, added, “this ribbon of land has served recently only as a utility right-of-way and something of an eyesore and will now be an asset to the community.” The goal of this portion of the project and the entire CROWN project when completed, is to provide greater connectivity and promote healthy, active lifestyle choices.
